How we approach
each engagement
Every engagement begins with a conversation. We listen to the circumstances before we advise, and we do not commit to a scope of work until we understand what the matter actually involves. Written engagement terms are issued before any legal work begins.
Throughout the engagement, we provide written updates after each material step and maintain honest communication about prospects, timelines, and cost. At the close of an engagement, we prepare a summary of the work done and its outcomes, which the client may retain for their records.
Service 01
Advisory on Inheritance Planning for Family Businesses
Families whose estate considerations include a business — whether a long-standing enterprise or a smaller concern that has grown alongside the family — often encounter questions that sit between corporate law and estate law. This advisory service begins with a careful reading of the business structure and the family's own understanding of its future.
Subsequent drafting, where required, is undertaken at a pace that respects the family's need to reflect and the continuity of relationships among those involved. We do not treat succession as a purely mechanical exercise.

Service 02
Interpretation of Will Provisions
Wills are sometimes drafted in language that raises more questions than it answers. A provision may be ambiguous on its face, or it may conflict with another part of the document. Beneficiaries, executors, or family members may disagree about what a provision was intended to mean. This focused service provides clarity.
We read the document in full, consider the applicable legal principles, and prepare a written note explaining the interpretation in plain language. Where the matter may benefit from further discussion, the note is drafted in a form suitable for sharing among family members or other parties to the estate.
What this service covers
- Careful reading of the will in full context
- Consideration of any related correspondence or earlier drafts available

Service 03
Representation in Probate Proceedings
Where contested matters have arisen in the administration of an estate, representation before the applicable court may become necessary. This is the most substantial of our three services, and the one that requires the longest time commitment from both the client and the practice.
We conduct this work with thorough preparation and steady communication throughout. Particular care is taken in correspondence with other parties — we recognise that the legal proceedings occur within a family context, and that how things are said often matters as much as what is achieved.
What this service covers
- Assessment of the contested matter and initial advice on prospects
- Preparation of court documents and affidavits
- Correspondence with other parties and their legal representatives
- Attendance at court hearings
- Written updates after each material step
- Ongoing realistic assessment of duration and cost
Process steps
- 01Initial consultation and review of contested matter
- 02Scope and fee quotation in writing
- 03Preparation and filing of probate documents
- 04Management of correspondence with other parties
- 05Court attendances and advocacy
